Male Puppy – Female Puppy: Behavioral Differences

The upbringing and training of a puppy determine its behavior toward others. Some dogs are more aggressive or affectionate, solely of the environment in which they were raised. The preference or the confusion as to get the owner itself can quickly solve a male puppy or female puppy as according to his or her individual choice.

This is a meticulous observation done, where, a dog’s behavior may depend on its training. Moreover, the gender of a dog can determine its ability to train and learn from regular practices. However, a female dog is short in height from the male dogs but matures faster. This gives an advantage while training. Now, this states no fact that a female dog is more intelligent than a male dog, it merely means, a female dog will be easier to train as its more mature while a male dog who is of the same age.

Some Necessary Caution to Be Followed

If the owner has no intention to breed his or her female dog, then she must be kept locked or isolated from other dogs especially of the male gender. Under such conditions, the female dog is considered spayed, which makes her ineligible for any dog shows. Hence, if the owner has no intention of competing with the dog, it is advisable to get her spayed as young as six to nine months old.

Spaying shows lower risks of ovarian diseases or uterine diseases among different female dogs. People believe that spaying has a positive effect on female dogs’ attitude. Spaying, however, prevents accidental or undesirable pregnancies. It also helps the female dog to have a better personality.

On the other hand, the non-neutered male dog tends to be more dominant and high-spirited. They are more independent when compared to that of a female dog.

Thus, the male dog can be neutered when young as well if there are no intentions of breeding as a neutered dog is less aggressive, calmer and less likely to roam around.
