Members of the dog breeding field have come up with the news that many dog breeds native to the United Kingdom are facing this danger of becoming extinct very soon. In the UK, there are approximately 220 pedigree breeds of dog.

However, the top six of these 220 dog breeds account for more ownerships and registrations in comparison to the remaining 214 dog breeds. These six popular breeds of dogs in the UK include English Springer Spaniel, French Bulldog, Labrador, Pug, Bulldog, and Cocker Spaniel. Only these six dog breeds are said to have garnered the attention of dog lovers since the time they have been known to the world.

A recent poll that questioned around 10, 000 individuals about their favorite dog came up with results showing the Labrador to be the beloved dog of the British individuals. But the sad news is that people are neglecting the other dog breeds to such an extent that many other infamous breeds are going extinct or are at the danger of becoming extinct very soon.

First up in the list of Forgotten Breeds enlisted by the Kennel Club is Otterhound. In 2017, Only 24 puppies got registration. Thus, in the United Kingdom, it became the most endangered dog breed.

Yet another dog becoming extinct in the category of dog breeding is Skye Terrier. Skype Terriers are gorgeous little creatures with fabulous fur, and other dog owners might be jealous of. The dog breed was traditionally in use for hunting badgers and foxes, which means they are quite fearless. Also, Skye Terriers are fiercely loyal dogs. But the sad part about this dog breed is that there are just 40 of them remaining.

Then there is the magnificent and beautiful Glen of Imaal terrier. These dogs do not have proper height, but they are mighty creatures. They came from Ireland and were conventionally used as badger hunters in County Wicklow. These dogs are sturdy, fearless, and sassy. Nevertheless, there are just 48 Imaal Terriers remaining as per registration reports published in 2017. King Charles Spaniel is also standing fourth on the list of dog breeds becoming extinct in recent times.

Other dog breeds that are soon to extinct include Norwich Terrier, Retriever, Spaniel, Collie, Irish Red, and White Setter. English Toy Terrier, Bloodhound, Fox Terrier, Welsh Corgi, Bull Terrier, Lancashire Heeler, Deerhound, Lakeland Mastiff, Kerry Blue Terrier, and Manchester Terrier are also in the list.

Why Are Dogs Being Ignored On A Large Scale?

People are real monsters. They like keeping dogs as pets, but they do not pay attention to the dogs that have dangers of getting extinct very soon. But why is it that people are ignoring such fabulous dogs to a great extent? The main reason is that people always follow what others do. Endangered dog breeds should be given a chance to live and grow. It can be done by choosing them and taking care of them as pets.
