1. Yorkie Puppies Are Used To Kill Rats.
These little dogs were bred from different terriers, to hunt rats. In Scotland, to free their workplaces from rodent, weavers, miners and other business owners started using these tiny breeds to kill. Their compact size allows Yorkshires to enter into small places and helped them to catch their rodent prey. They were also used for flushing prey out of its den.
2. Weavers, Small Business Owners, Brought Them To England.
In mid-1800, weavers who came to England for some work, they brought their tiny dogs with them after some time these little breeds was caught and started their appearance in shows.
3. They Got Their New Name.
When the breed was first seen in England, they called broken-haired Scotch terriers. They have this name for many years after some time a reporter named Angus Sutherland proposes to change their name. He stated that they were got perfect after coming to Yorkshire, England. In “The Field magazine,” Sutherland reported that “They now no longer be called Scotch as Terriers, but Yorkshire Terriers.People agreed, and in 1870 the name was officially changed.
4. Huddersfield Ben Was Father Of The Yorkshire Puppies.
The father of the breed named Huddersfield Ben was a ratting champion. He won over 70 awards in various dog shows. He weighs 11 pounds, and all other puppies were under 5 pounds at that time. He only lived for six years; he left behind an impressive legacy.
5. A Yorkie Was The Therapy Dog.
An American soldier found a Yorkshire terrier Smoky and took her in. Both of them traveled, and Yorkie soon started helping him in the war effort. Due to her smaller size and obedience nature, she was able to run through pipes and string communication wires.
Yorkie puppy helped and worked as a therapy dog for injured soldiers. After wartime, the two started performing on various TV shows. There is a monument in Cleveland, Ohio.

A little Yorkie was born in the 1980s having unusual markings in blue, white, and gold. The breeders decided to create a new breed. They established a new breed known as the Biewer Terrier.
